Trump Lost the War and Is Corrupting Our Country
I don't care about pollution
I'm an air-conditioned gypsy
That's my solution
Watch the police and the tax man miss me
I'm mobile, ooh yeah, hee-hee
Mobile, mobile, mobile, yeah, mmm
--Pete Townshend, The Who
When you read this blog, I will be driving up the Pacific coast with my younger sister, traveling from Palm Springs on my way to Seattle. It is a trip I always wanted to do, and if not now, then when I asked myself. It is also the case in this messed up world that we retreat into our extended family and our private lives. During this trip, I probably will be spending more time with my sister than any period since our childhood. And that is a good thing.
So, what am I trying to escape my summer road trip? Well, I have hit my limit of fatigue with Trump and the Quislings who surround him. It is a clown car parade. I read Trump’s MOU with the Iranians with complete disbelief. It is an abject surrender after so many ugly threats and bombast. That MOU is so stupid and embarrassing. I feel the need to go on record that this is a big mistake.
It is clear Trump lost the war. He personally snatched defeat out of the jaws of victory. Indeed, the NY Times reports that the Iranian missiles and drones effectively destroyed much of our Persian Gulf military bases, and we must now withdraw out of range. That is an obvious defeat. Even the Saudi’s are sending that message with the dispatch of a high-level delegation to Khomeini's funeral. This nation has never been so humiliated as is the case on our 250th anniversary date. It is clear to me that Putin and Xi Jinping will see the weakness and will likely respond in the Baltics and Taiwan while the window of opportunity presents itself. I don’t see how Trump’s minions can defend him.
Which brings me to an email I received last week from one of Trump’s many minions doing precisely that. Frank J. Bisignano, Commissioner of the Social Security Administration (“SSA”), emailed me to celebrate our nation’s “250th birthday.” I assume he sent the same email to everyone of retirement age. It was a blatant political message about all the great things “[u]nder the leadership of President Trump” that SSA is doing for seniors. (I assume Trump isn’t worried about social security – he has reportedly earned $2.2 billion this year on his crypto tokens, fringe investments, stock market manipulation, and transactions with the corrupt Arab monarchies, such that his retirement is secure.) While the Bisignano message was blatantly political and not informative, it isn’t the worse misuse of government resources ever, just a small corruption, but it was the one directed specifically to me.
Sadly, the Bisignano email is just a small part of an obvious Trump scheme to misuse Government resources to campaign for Republican party candidates in the Fall election. It is part of his corrupt placement of his name and likeness on every public space he can occupy. I would block Mr. Bisignano from my email box, as I do with all the campaign related emails and texts I receive, but then I might miss some important SSA information email with real content.
And so I travel the Pacific Highway, bemoaning the dumpster fire that is the Trump Presidency.
